A Garden Grows in Kekaha
(Formerly Kekaha Community Garden) Greetings from the garden - While Kauai continues in a holding pattern due to Covid, we nevertheless found effective ways of sharing our collective gardening know-how and harvests with the families of Kauai. Though the site remains closed due to Covid limitations, in 2021 we shared hundreds of pounds of organically-grown produce, herbs, seedlings and dozens of fruit trees (provided by our network of small scale family farms) with families and communities in need. Some of this sharing was done with the participation of faith networks. This year we also trimmed and removed several large invasive trees from the garden site and installed features to our irrigation system to increase water efficiency and protect our systems from vandalism. Our work on maintaining and re-landscaping the site as a foodscaping demonstration and contemplation space continues in 2022. Wishing you a blessed 2022! Phoebe Eng, Director |
