Centering Prayer Meditation Practice
"Come to me, all you who are weary and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28)
"Be still and know that I am God." (Psalm 46:10)
The Centering Prayer Group meets every Wednesday, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Church in Ele'ele. The first half hour spent in the church in silent meditation (“Centering Prayer”). The group then moves to the Parish Hall for reading and discussion.
Centering Prayer is an ancient form of Christian contemplation (or meditation). It is a method of consenting to God’s loving action and presence in our lives and is supported by Contemplative Outreach, an international organization that promotes contemplative Christian practice (http://www.centeringprayer.com).
The group is open to beginners and newcomers. Please join us on Wednesday mornings and you will be given instruction. Participants in the group come from all kinds of faith backgrounds (Christian, Buddhist, agnostic) and we welcome anyone who desires silence and stillness before God in community.
The Centering Prayer Group is connected to other CP groups on Kauai and Hawaii, offering retreats, training, and spiritual direction.
